Kia EV9 Production Set to Begin in 2023

According to a press release on Kia’s U.K. media site, Europe will be the first to receive a production version of the Kia EV9 SUV in 2023. Although the company made no mention of a US version, we believe the EV9 will eventually make its way to our shores.

Kia EV9 to Enter Production in 2023 - The Car Guide

The EV9 concept, which was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November, is an all-electric SUV with three rows of seats that is similar in size and shape to the Kia Telluride. We don’t expect anyone to confuse the two, thanks to the EV9’s blocky bodywork and futuristic styling elements.

Kia hasn’t revealed any more details about the upcoming EV9 other than confirming production for the European market. We already knew it would share components with the Hyundai Ioniq 7, which was also unveiled last year. Both Kia and Hyundai will build their large EV SUVs on a stretched version of the e-GMP platform that underpins the much smaller Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Kia claims that the EV9 will have a range of 300 miles on a full battery and a maximum charging rate of 350 kilowatts. We can only speculate for the time being, but we believe the US version will be available for the 2024 model year and will cost around $50,000.
